The Question Every Couple Asks

What can we afford and how much do we want to spend on our wedding?

The honest answer is that there isn't one figure that fits everyone. A relaxed celebration with close family will cost considerably less than a luxury weekend wedding at an exclusive-use estate.

However, after speaking to local suppliers, reviewing venue pricing and analysing current trends, it's possible to build a realistic picture of what couples are spending across Cheshire in 2026.

For most couples, a Cheshire wedding now falls somewhere between £20,000 and £45,000, with luxury celebrations often exceeding £60,000.

Venue Hire

Your venue will usually represent the largest single expense.

Typical Cheshire Venue Costs:

  • Country house venues: £5,000 – £12,000

  • Exclusive-use manor houses: £8,000 – £20,000+

  • Barn venues: £4,000 – £10,000

  • Luxury estates and castles: £10,000 – £30,000+

Many venues include accommodation, ceremony spaces and furniture within their packages, while others charge separately.

Typical budget: £8,000–£15,000

Food & Drink

Catering costs can quickly add up depending on guest numbers.

For a wedding with 80-100 guests, couples can expect:

  • Wedding breakfast: £30–£120 per guest

  • Evening food: £10–£25 per guest

  • Drinks packages: £20–£60 per guest

For a 100-guest wedding, food and drink alone can easily exceed £8,000.

The Cheshire Bride Guide View

The most memorable weddings aren't always the most expensive.

The couples who look back most fondly on their day are usually those who focused on what mattered most to them rather than trying to do everything and don’t regret ‘wasting’ money on things that in the end, didn’t really matter.

What matters to you? Is it incredible food, stunning photography, a luxury venue or an unforgettable party with all of your favourite people? Prioritising your budget around your personal non-negotiables will almost always lead to a better wedding experience than simply chasing trends and trying to push for the wow-factor. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.

In our opinion? The non-negotiables include: A venue that suits your personality - be it a country manor, a tipi in a field, or simply a registry office followed by a couple of drinks down the pub, it has to feel like you. Some form of photography/videography - you will only get this day once and having images or a video of the day lets you re-live it again and again. You will thank yourself for this in years to come! Thoughtful food - it doesn’t have to be Michelin star, just something you like and that won’t leave you or your guests hungry and ordering a Deliveroo to the wedding venue! A great party - be it a DJ, live band, or just a great playlist - you don’t need fireworks and saxophonists to have an amazing time, but if all your guests are having a blast, so will you!
